Town of Greenburgh Police say the Pipeline Drive will remain closed as police conduct an investigation of the crash that took place around 11:55 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 12, when a Town of Greenburgh vehicle struck a utility pole on the roadway in Edgemont, said Town of Greenburgh Police Lt. Kobie Powell.
A number of vehicles that were parked in Site D were hit by the utility pole when it fell Chief Brian Joseph Ryan said.
"The damage was caused by wires landing on the opposite side in parking lot D, across the railroad tracks striking the parked vehicles," he said.
Greenburgh Police officers have located the vehicles and are writing police reports to document the damage, the chief said.
"The Officers will leave a business card with a report number on the windshield of your vehicle for your convenience," he added.
In addition to the roadway closure, Con Edison will be replacing the damaged poles on Pipeline Drive, police said.
Powell said the replacement may take several hours.
To help commuters, a police officer will be posted at a barricade at the north end of Pipeline Drive to assist those motorists who parked along Pipeline Drive (Site E), to safely access their vehicles once they disembark from the train station.
Greenburgh detectives are conducting an accident investigation.
There are no reported injuries.
